I am lost for words when it comes to writing this blog post. Over my career as a wedding photographer these past six years I have shot nearly 400 weddings. But I can say without a doubt that this was the most beautiful, relaxing and most importantly… fun wedding I have covered in my photographic career!
I first met Jo Ann & Pascal at their Soho apartment a year ago, where they cooked me up a beautiful Vietnamese meal. We chatted away about their Topas Ecolodge Wedding. A stunning venue in the Vietnamese mountains east of Laos, Topas Ecolodge is a National Geographic Unique Lodge of the World.
A year went by and I got really excited about the adventure. I took the overnight train from Hanoi, which was an adventure itself! Arriving at the venue I was blow away. Stunning backdrop in the mountains, not to mention the food & amazing staff at Topas. Many thanks to Claudia and her team for all their hard work.
We had a cracking pool party the night before the wedding and I hope there weren’t too many hangovers for the big day!
The ceremony itself was by the infinity pool with the mountains in the background. I couldn’t have asked for a better setting – but a bit of cloud cover would have been nice, we were all sweating in the 38°C heat!
After an emotional ceremony Jo Ann, Pascal & I headed off for some bride and groom pics and then down to the reception marquee. The guys from Topas Ecolodge did a fantastic job with the décor and it look stunning.
After some cracking party games (my favorite being musical chairs! – see below) we headed inside to dance the night away.
My words don’t give Jo Ann & Pascal’s wedding justice, but just to say that his has to be the best wedding I’ve ever documented… ’mic drop’.
